Social media marketing works for a lot of people. Obviously. It wouldn’t still be a thing if it didn’t. But, if you’re like me, you’re not going to be dancing and pointing at imaginary things in the air. And you’re not going to spend a bunch of time mastering the latest trends. Or going to spend a ton of money on ads. (If you’re wondering if organic Instagram marketing is still a thing? It is — and you have some in between options too). Also, do you really want to put all your energy into something that may well disappear (like TikTok almost did)? No. But, can you still leverage Instagram for some leads as a 1:1 service provider without all that? Yes ✨
Here’s my lazy girl’s guide to organic Instagram marketing:And the kind of cool thing is that this worked when I was a health coach back in 2014 and it still works for me as a website designer and online business strategist ten years later. Take that, algorithm. Also note – my strategy is organic-ish. It does not rely on paid ads, but, well, more below…
1) I post content that provides insight into what it’s like to work with me, or how we’ll work together. This way if someone checks me out from my website, they’ll get a feel for what we can do together. Even if they’re not going to be impressed by my follower count. I write good captions (SEO!) and use some hashtags on posts also — occasionally clients find me this way. 2) I post my lead magnets (and I have a handful of them) frequently. This gets people onto my email list. If you write good captions (SEO!) and use some hashtags, people will find them. 3) I boost my lead magnets for between $2 – $7/day on occasion. This gets the lead magnet in front of more people. Typically for about $0.50/lead. This is more expensive than straight ads BUT, nailing true Meta ads take a lot of work, and typically a lot of money honing your audience and message to get good return on investment. When you boost posts you also typically pick up a few followers too. ➡️ You can do this strategy just fine with only 2-3 posts per week. I sourced about half of my health coaching clients with this strategy back in 2014. (My niche and problem I solved for people was SO clear, so that helped a lot). It still adds people to my list and gets them to book discovery calls TODAY. I’ve used social media very inconsistently for my website design business, but I can always give my email list a little bump with this strategy. In the past two weeks with organic posts and $15 towards my Crickets to Clients Masterclass….. I booked a new client: |

That’s pretty much my lazy girl’s guide to Instagram marketing! As with all the marketing things, it’s just about getting really clear on who you serve, how you help them, and demonstrating that value in a way that you will actually show up for. Dancing, no thanks! Information-driven posts and some strategy to get it in front of people, yes. Interested in finding your marketing strategy on or off social?
