How to Change Your Website Title in Squarespace

by | Jul 30, 2026 | SquareSpace | 0 comments

Today I want to walk you through something small that is actually a major detail: how to change the actual title of your Squarespace website. If you’ve ever sent someone a link to your site and cringed a little at what showed up, or noticed something outdated sitting in your browser tab, this quick fix is for you.

What exactly is a “website title,” anyway?

Your website title is the text that shows up in a few key places:

  • The browser tab where your site is living
  • The preview that pops up when someone shares your website link

It’s a small detail, but it’s often one of the first things people see before they even land on your site. It also plays a role in your site’s SEO.

Where to actually find it in Squarespace

Here’s the part that trips people up: your instinct is probably to look for this setting under Settings. That would make sense (I actually look there all of the time too) and yet, that’s not where it lives.

Instead, you’ll find it in your site header, right along with your logo and menu.

Here’s how to get there:

  1. Hit Edit on your website
  2. Go to Edit Site Header (hover over the menu/logo area if this is not immediately visible)
  3. Look for your logo (or text, if you don’t have a logo yet) — this is usually somewhere near the top of your header either on the left or in th center
  4. Hover over it and click the pencil icon. You’ll know you’re in the right spot when it says “Edit Site Title and Logo”

The mix-up I see all the time

This is the part I really want you to catch: a lot of people come into this section to add or update their logo, get that done, and then click away without realizing there’s a separate site title field sitting right there that also needs updating.

So your logo looks great, but the actual site title (the text version) is still the old one, or the Squarespace default. Once you’re in the Edit Site Title and Logo window, make sure you update that text field too, not just the logo image.

Saving your change

There’s no big “Save” button waiting for you here. Once you’ve edited the text, simply click outside of the box, and Squarespace will prompt you to save your changes.

The quick recap

Wherever your logo lives in your header, that’s your starting point. Click the pencil icon, update your site title text, and click out to save. That’s it!

I hope this saved you a few minutes of hunting around, aand if you’re working through other Squarespace tech setup questions like this one, that’s exactly the kind of thing I love helping with inside Your Profitable Website.
